Board of Directors

GRANT BENNETT
Board chair
MY WHY:
Each of us, and collectively, serving our community is paramount to maintaining the health and well-being of our society. I genuinely believe that every success story in life is rooted in community, through a network of support, and empowered through our Creator. My biggest accomplishments in life have come from the kindness, support and encouragement of my community. Similarly, Rocky Mountain Communities is an organization looking to build people and families up through these same values, in the form of a safe, affordable place to live and through services and programs to manage and grow in life.
I have the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors, learning from a great team of staff working to improve lives and the organization, and meeting residents who are unique, beautiful, and talented people, each playing a role in our society. The attitude of going it alone has hurt me in the past, and the lesson learned is that life takes a village to survive and thrive. I am so excited for the future of the organization, growing our villages throughout Colorado and empowering lives.

DARIN ROMINE
SECRETARY AND PROPERTY/FINANCE COMMITTEE CHAIR
MY WHY:
Several years back, I was drawn to serve on the Board of Rocky Mountain Communities because I believed that it was at the center of affordable housing in Denver. What I did not realize at that time was that the business of operating a non-profit housing organization is more complex than most would expect. I continue to be excited about serving on the Board because of that complexity and the many favorable outcomes created by its strong management team and equally strong balance sheet.

MARGARET ESLER
Governance Committee Co-Chair
MY WHY:
As a real estate lawyer, I am very aware of the full spectrum of housing-related issues and was moved to become involved with Rocky Mountain Communities as I learned more about the critical need for affordable housing in Colorado. I do not take for granted how privileged I am to have a stable home and want to do my small part in ensuring others have a safe, affordable and supportive place to shelter. I recognize that a roof and four walls are not everything that an individual or family needs, and Rocky Mountain Communities is unique as an organization that strives to provide other resources for its residents. I’m proud to be a member of the Board of Rocky Mountain Communities, and grateful to have the opportunity to be involved with an organization whose mission seeks to empower its residents to thrive.

ZACH URBAN

MY WHY:
I serve as a board member for Rocky Mountain Communities as a continuation of my life-long vocation in the vein of provisioning affordable housing. As affordable housing and resident services are a key social determinant of health it is imperative that organizations such as Rocky Mountain Communities are good stewards of the limited resources available. I am honored to play a small role in this stewardship.

Susanne Roser
MY WHY:
I have been a social worker, housing administrator my entire career. I believe affordable housing is a right not a luxury. All families and seniors deserve safe affordable housing. Our communities cannot thrive and grow if they are not housed. To build community, and have our children thrive, they cannot be homeless or move from unstable house to house. My role on the board is advocacy for the low-income community within the state of Colorado. If we can provide more quality low-come housing, we all grow and prosper from that. My passion is providing low income housing and assuring residents have access to health care services and support programs that improve their quality of life. It is an honor to serve.

TODD CROWLEY
MY WHY:
Most of us take “home” for granted. We shouldn’t. Home is the foundational element of success in life. It is where we build and nurture our families, where we feel safe, where we prepare to go out in the world to work, where we take respite from a grueling day. Imagine if you didn’t have a home, or you had to work two jobs just to keep a roof over your head? How would you raise successful children? How would you achieve anything beyond bare survival? Many do, but it is incredibly difficult. Rocky Mountain Communities provides a desperately needed physical and social foundation from which people can build successful and meaningful lives. The people of Rocky Mountain Communities have a tremendous impact on those they serve and the community as a whole. I truly appreciate the small role I play in supporting the impactful group of people at Rocky Mountain Communities.
