Neighborhood Information
Westminster, a northern suburb of Denver in Adams and Jefferson counties, was settled in 1863 and originally named DeSpain Junction. It later became Harris before being renamed after Westminster University (1891–1917). Economic growth surged with the arrival of the Denver, Western and Pacific Railway in 1881 and the development of local irrigation systems. Today, Westminster is a hub for high-tech manufacturing and home to several major healthcare facilities.
